attitude

So last night i read the second chapter of Phillippians. There were three things I found to journal about, but I'll just do the first one.
"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus."
Jesus had the ultimate good attitude. He didn't complain when he had to leave heaven to come to earth, and he didn't complain when he had to die on the cross (something he definitely didnt deserve). I usually complain about alot of things. Bad hair days, nothing to wear, big test in school. But Jesus didn't complain even when he had to die on the cross! Thats definitely something to work on.

Today is my next to last day of school! I cant wait for monday!

devotion

Last night I read Phillippians 1. It is stuffed full of examples of devotion....

-Paul's devotion in writing and encouraging the Phillippians
-the Phillippians' devotion from the gospel "from the first day until now."
-God's devotion in completing the work he has started in the Phillippians

This chapter made me ask, "Am I completely devoted to God, the Gospel, and the other believers?" Its probably an area that could use some work in all of out lives.

happy summer!

3 miles!

I am doing a 3 mile walk/dance workout in my basement. It's a mix between Tae Bo and normal walking. I've done 2 miles, and am taking a break while Kendall (my exercise partner) is doing the dishes. Its pretty easy since I'm used to walking on the treadmill.

I can't wait for summer! I only have three days of school left till I'm free!!!! I have big tests all three days. I should be ok, though, since I'm pretty good at literature, and I have more than a 97 average. (wish I could say the same for math)

Well, I'm going to work on the last mile. Then I'll go help my dad make chili (yum) and be bored till I think of something else to do. Maybe 3 more miles....... (probably not)

i cant think of anything important to say, so i'm going now. i have to stay on schedule!

almost here!!!

I only have 3 days of algebra left  before I'm done for the summer!! This has definitely been the hardest math year of my life, and it doesn't help at all that I pick it up really slow. I've done 2 lessons today, so that means only one more 'till I'm free 'till tomorrow!!!!!

On a more serious note, I read about the death of Jesus last night before bed. It really amazes me that he would do all that for me. I definitely don't deserve it, but I guess God's in the business of giving us things we don't deserve.

I can't wait for youth tonight!

Soldier

Read this! It is soooooo deep. I felt really inspired after listening to this, so I'm sharing it with you. :)

"I am a soldier of the living God.

I am going to claim my Canaan. I am claiming my Canaan because the Lord Jesus Christ is my commanding officer. The Holy Bible is my code of conduct. Faith, prayer, and The Word are weapons of my warfare. I have been called by the Holy Spirit. I have been trained by experience. I have been tried by adversity and I have been tested by fire. I am a volunteer in this army and I have enlisted for all of eternity. I will retire either in this army at the rapture or I will die in this army. But I will not get out, I will not sell out, or I will not be talked out. I am going to be faithful. I am going to be capable, dependable by his might. And if my God needs me, I’m going to be there.

I am a soldier of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I don’t have to be pampered, paid, primed up, picked up, pumped up or pepped up because I am a soldier! No one has to call me, remind me, invite me, visit me, entice me or lure me.

I am a soldier.

I’m in my place saluting my king, obeying his orders, praising his name, and building his kingdom up.

I am a soldier.

No one has to send me flowers, no one has to send me gifts, cards, food, candy, or give me handouts. I don’t need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for or catered to. I am committed. I cannot have my feelings hurt enough to turn me around.  I can not be discouraged enough to turn me aside. I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit. And when Jesus called me into this army I had noting, and if I end with nothing, I will still come out even. But I’m going to win! My God’s going to supply all my needs!  I am more than a conqueror. I will always triumph in Christ Jesus because I can do all things through Him.

 I am a soldier.

Devils cannot defeat me, people cannot dissolution me, weather cannot weary me, sickness cannot stop me, battles cannot beat me, money cannot buy me, Governments cannot outsize me, and hell can’t handle me! I am a child of the king! I am claiming my Canaan. I am a soldier. Death cannot destroy me! For when my commanding officer calls me from this battlefield, he’s going to promote me to a captain and bring me back to rule this world with him! I am a soldier in the army of my living God.  I’m going to be marching and claiming victory. I will not give up. I will not turn around. I am a soldier pursuing my potential. I am claiming my Canaan

Who will stand with me? Here I stand!"

call me Woman Girl!

Hannah has decided that her new name is (drumroll please) da da da daaaaaa! Woman Girl!!!! She now does not let us call her "sweetie" any more, and has threatened to run away and bury herself underground if we do not refer to her by her new name. Needless to say, this has been somewhat of a challenge. But she doesn't know where we keep the shovel, so we're safe for now.

Keeper of the Donkey

Have you ever given anything up for God??? When Jesus Jesus goes into Jerusalem, he needs something to ride on. So he tells his disciples to go and get a donkey. In fact, he tells them exactly where to find it. So when they get there, the people who own the donkey are standing there, and they want to know what in the world the disciples are doing untying their donkey. The disciples tell them that Jesus needs it, and they immediately tell the disciples to take their donkey. Isn't that cool??? They probably needed that donkey, but they were willing to give it to Jesus. I hope that when God asks me for something, I'll be as willing as they were to hand it over.

reasoning with a 3 year-old

My little sister found a box in the pantry that looked like it might possibly contain her favorite food - cookies. (it was actually a box of powdered milk. hahaha) She tried to open it, and I took it away from her. Here is the conversation that followed-
"Stop it! There are no cookies in that box."
"yuh huh!"
"nu uh"
"yuh huh!"
"nu uh!"
"yuh huh!"
"nu uh!"
"YU HUH! MOMMY! THE GIRLS LIED TO ME AND SAID THERE'S NO COOKIES IN THAT BOX!!!!!"
"There are no cookies in that box!"
"YU HUH!"

I wonder if that's what I sound like to God sometimes- so wrapped up in my own opinions and views about how it "should be" that I ignore his voice and continue to pursue my own foolish ideas. Sure, I sound pretty smart to myself, but I bet when it comes to God's plan, I'm no smarter that a three year old trying to prove to her big sis that there are actually cookies in that box of powdered milk.

I don't have anything to blog about, so I wont be blogging today. :)

awwwwwwwwww!!!!

Jason Castro got eliminated! He was my favorite. :( *sniff sniff*
Actually, it really isn't that big of a deal. I liked him 'cuz he is a Christian, and he was really nice and has a great voice. I never really watched the show, just on YouTube and GodTube.

sleep!

I stayed up till midnight last night reading The Yearling for school. For those multitudes who are considering reading this book, don't. It is sooooo boring. So when I woke up, it felt like I hadn't slept in a year. I'm soooo tired! I might fall asleep while I do school, but then I'd have to do it when we got back from dance at 4, so I guess I'd better not.

oops

i accidentally slept in till 9 this morning. oh darn! lol
I read the story of the man who was crippled and his friends couldnt get into the house because it was too full. But they had to get to Jesus. So you know what they did??? They tore a hole in the roof! now, imagine this with me. the guy who owned the house had to be just a teensy bit upset at this, and their roofs were probably made of straw woven together, which means that this was gonna be a pain to fix once Jesus healed their buddy. and the guys were probably going to have to fix it. But I dont think they cared. Because seeing their friend walk was going to be worth it. Remember the verse in James that says that if we ask God for something and then doubt, we're like a wave tossed in the ocean. I dont think the thought even crossed their minds that Jesus might not heal their friend. If he didnt, they were gonna look pretty silly, peering down into the room from a hole in the roof that might collapse any moment. But they didnt care how they looked. Because they trusted Jesus. wow

a little swim

I was reading Mark last night in my Bible, and I found a really cool verse. When Jesus was out looking for his diciples and he saw Simon and Andrew in a boat fishing with their dad. He called out, "Come to me, and I will make you fishers of men." It says that they at once they got up and followed him. They left their nets, their dad, their friends, and their lives behind to follow Jesus. And since they were in the middle of the lake, they probably had to go for a little swim to get to him. But they didn't let anything get in their way. Isn't that cool???? I want faith and obedience like that.

Lazy Day

Today has been really slow. I have had nothing going on except school, which was done by noon. I spent most of the time reading and playing piano, which is the perfect combination for a headache. (luckily I don't have one!) I'll probably go run on the treadmill or read my Fire Bible (yay!) or maybe do them both at the same time! (it's been done before) I wish there was more to do today..........

Prisoner Escape

I'm sitting today,(and yesterday, and tomorrow :) and last night we went outside and played "prisoner escape." Then we came inside and played "prisoner escape." (notice and similarities?? lol) We'll probably play it again in a while. I love to babysit! Right now we are watching Sesame Street. (my favorite!) and it's raining. I love it when it rains, because then it feels so cozy inside. (and there is no reason to go outside and play "prisoner escape." :) more later
